The Branch is making important prepartions ahead of any potential industrial action.
Dismissal and re-engagement letters
It is really important that these are returned and hopefully you will also send a copy of the letter contained in Bulletin 10 to the Chief Executive – don’t forget to send a copy to us.
We keep hearing about members who haven't received anything at all by way of any letters about changes to terms and conditions. In addition, there also seem to be a lot of members who didn’t voluntarily sign up but haven't had the dismissal and re-engagement letter. If either of these apply to you, inform your line manager immediately but also fill in the questionnaire below.

JNC members
The Branch Secretary wrote to the Director of HR on 7 April and chased up the lack of response. We have been promised a reply on her return from holiday and we also have a meeting with her on 26 May. We agree that it isn't appropriate for these members to sign accepting something which doesn’t apply to them. We believe these members should receive formal confirmation from the employer exactly what they are accepting before signing and we are seeking legal advice on this. Any update from the meeting will be on the website so please keep checking.
FAQ's
A series of FAQ's are on the website and these will be added to as and when questions arise.
If you have any which you feel have not been answered please forward to us for inclusion on the site.
Joint Union Meetings
We have been holding joint meetings with all trade unions who have members caught up in the Equal Pay Review with a view to working collectively. At the point of writing we are waiting for the views of the other unions about their intentions regarding a formal Industrial Action ballot. Most have held consultative ballots and we are waiting final results from the last one to do so.
Consultative Ballot for Industrial Action
The overwhelming response was for all-out action with less than one third opting for action short of strike only.
We are now in the process of preparing the reports necessary to go forward to our Regional Secretary and if he is supportive, to the National Industrial Action Committee seeking authorisation for a formal ballot. As we have said at many of the meetings we have held across the County, this action if approved to go ahead, will be many and varied not targeted at any particular group and not just focusing all our initiatives on full strike action.
The potential Industrial Action ballot is the second part of the questionnaire below. This is one document which is really important you fill in if one of the questions applies to you.
