Welcome to the Lancashire Branch of Unison

Training for Stewards

During the coming 12 months you will receive information on various courses available to you to assist you to carry out your role as a UNISON Steward from either UNISON or the TUC.

As part of UNISON's accreditation process it is felt that in the first instance, all stewards should complete the three day "Organising Steward" course provided by the Regional Education before commencing the TUC ten day courses.

The original Stewards courses are held monthly and at various locations throughout the County. When you complete the application form, please select the venue nearest to your home and return it to the Branch Education Co-ordinator at the address below. Please do not send the form to the course provider i.e. Region.

Branch Education Co-ordinator
Unison Branch Office,
Room D43,
County Hall,
Preston.

A couple of points to bear in mind when applying for a course:

1. Authorisation from Branch Education Co-ordinator/Assistant before attending.

2. To ensure you are granted time off to attend, give your employer ample notice (i.e. 4-6 weeks) for them to arrange cover.

3. Ensure you can attend the whole course and not just part of it.

When I receive your application form, I will acknowledge it and send you the documents you require. The Regional Education Office or TUC will then notify you of the course venue and any other details.

If you require any further information, please do not hesitate to contact me or my assistant at the Branch Office.
